Antony Silva y Alfredo Aguilar supieron erigirse en figuras indiscutibles de Cerro Porteño y Olimpia, respectivamente. Desde la posición más ingrata del fútbol, ambos se muestran definitivamente como titulares indiscutibles en los arcos más pesados del fútbol paraguayo.
Desde aquella fatídica noche de julio de 2011 en la anterior Olla azulgrana, con la desgraciada jugada de Diego Barreto en el arco Sur frente a Santos de Brasil por la Copa Libertadores, el arco azulgrana quedó con un estigma. Es una injusta cruz que la gente azulgrana carga contra cualquier otro arquero que llega a Cerro. Desde entonces, cualquiera que quiso quedarse con ese puesto, no aguantó, salvo “Gatito” Fernández, que supo ser titular en gran parte del 2013, año que Cerro logró el campeonato Clausura de forma invicta. Sin embargo, Fernández, también cuestionado por un sector de la hinchada, no estuvo mucho tiempo y hoy es considerado el mejor arquero del fútbol brasileño.
Para iniciar la temporada 2015, Barreto seguía en Cerro pero la relación tanto con los hinchas como con los dirigentes ya no era la misma. Para inicio de ese año, el club contrató a Rodolfo Rodríguez, que jugó los primeros partidos de la Libertadores. Sin embargo, Barreto terminó siendo titular y con él Cerro obtuvo su título 31 en el Apertura 2015. Finalmente Barreto, que se crió y formó en Cerro no renovó para el Clausura de ese año y terminó recalando en Olimpia, el acérrimo rival.
Para mitad del 2015, Cerro trajo al argentino Cristhian Alvarez, un tipo controvertido, fanático de grupos de rock argentino, que leía libros sobre la izquierda latinoamericana y que tenía como una de sus referencias que le había tapado un penal a Messi, cuando jugaba en España. Pero no logró estabilizarse.
Tras esas malas experiencias contratando arqueros, Cerro estaba en la necesidad absoluta de no fallar con el nuevo arquero mirando el 2016. Fue así que el 2 de enero de ese año fue presentado oficialmente Antony Silva con la camiseta de Cerro Porteño, como nuevo arquero del Ciclón. Ese mismo año Cerro llegó a una nueva semifinal internacional. Fue contra el Atlético Nacional, de Colombia, que tenía uno de sus mejores equipos de los últimos 30 años. Cerro estuvo a un gol de pasar a la final en ese torneo y Silva fue uno de los portaestandartes del equipo.
Para el 2017, nuevos cambios de directores técnicos como Gustavo Matosas e interinatos a corto tiempo, no estabilizo a un plantel que deambuló por el campeonato Apertura. Para mitad de año, se trajo a un DT que por primera vez salía de su país; el colombiano Leonel Alvarez, que estuvo a punto de dejar la dirección técnica nuevamente, producto de algunos malos resultados, pero se mantuvo y finalmente Cerro salió campeón del Clausura 2017. Para este torneo, Antony, además de ser una pieza indiscutible entre los titulares del Ciclón, pasó a ser también uno de los referentes y líderes del plantel. Silva jugó prácticamente todos los partidos del Ciclón en este torneo y tuvo partidos fundamentales, como aquel en el que le saca un mano a mano al “Ogro” Correa, de Rubio Ñu, para ganar un partido clave en la Nueva Olla.
Partidos internacionales
Si hay algo que tiene Silva es agrandarse en los partidos internacionales, uno de los estigmas que tiene justamente Cerro Porteño. En la Copa Sudamericana 2016, el arquero fue fundamental para mantener el cero en su arco, en partidos calientes y contra rivales difíciles, como los partidos contra Atlético Nacional.
En lo que va de esta Copa Libertadores, salvo aquel partido contra Gremio en Brasil en el que Cerro como equipo desapareció, Silva logró destacarse para colaborar en el conjunto del equipo. Cerro hizo 13 puntos de 18 posibles, una cifra a la que el Ciclón no llegaba hace bastante tiempo. Ahora sólo resta ver cómo le va en el sorteo al Ciclón de Barrio Obrero para conocer a su futuro rival de octavos de final.
